Story: Princess Skunk

Copyright (C) 2009 by Kevin L. O'Brien Braveheart and White-Lion were walking through an open wood, when a skunk ambled out onto the path in front of them. They both stopped dead. "Oooo, look at that!" White-Lion cooed. Braveheart rolled her eyes. White-Lion was too easily distracted by any novel occurrence. "It's just a skunk. We've seen them before." It sat up on its haunches. "Excuse me, but are you a knight?" The voice squeaked, but the words were unmistakable. Startled, Braveheart glanced at White-Lion. She looked as astonished as Braveheart felt, her eyes opened wide like O's behind her glasses. "Oh, my!" White-Lion exclaimed. Th

Copyright (C) 2009 by Kevin L. O'Brien In 1950, a reporter interviews Medb hErenn in her capacity as director of the Ceoldráma Mór opera house in Dublin. She plans to write an investigative article that will expose Medb as the composer of house's popular Mystery Operas for the past seventy-five years. Though Medb denies it, the reporter is convinced she is right and plans to go ahead with her article whether Medb admits the truth or not. So Medb decides to tell her a story. Story: Medb and Sahr -- P1

Copyright (C) 2011 by Kevin L. O'Brien Medb hErenn battled to regain consciousness, but it felt like struggling to escape a mud bog. The harder she fought, the deeper she seemed to sink, and the more difficult it became to keep going. She knew that she had to wake up, and soon, but she could not remember why. She just had a sense or urgency, as if her life depended on it, yet despite this, she could not make any headway. Then she felt drops of water fall on her cheeks, her lips, and her eyelashes, and she felt something cool and wet laid on her forehead with a gentle touch. With preternatural effort, she forced herself awake in an instant;

24 Types of Libertarian

First off, we wish to apologize if any of our Watchers are offended by this. We didn't think of it; it's actually a transcript of a cartoon by B. Deutsch, who does the online series "Ampersand", a left-leaning editorial cartoon that also skewers Democrats and liberals. We know some of you are libertarians. We are too, but we find the right-wing libertarian ideologies pretty disturbing. The descriptions here may be exaggerations, but they still accurately reflect the essence of each belief. So, with that in mind... "No fair oversimplifying our simplistic philosophy!" Naive "If the government would disappear, everyone would act sensibly an

Synopsis: Cabin of the Dead

Copyright (C) 2009 by Kevin L. O'Brien Eight women are marching through the woods on the downslope of a valley. Eile and Sunny are in the lead, followed by Mabuse, Sir Differel, Gen. Morgan Leia Ross, Shasta Taffaday, Annis Nin, and Dolores Cadera-Hueso bringing up the rear. They emerge from the woods onto a rock promontory overlooking the valley and pause for a rest. The forest continues downslope and covers most of the floor, but at one focus of the oval valley lies a lake, and part of a cabin is just visible on its shore. As they rest, it's obvious from their conversion they're not thrilled at being thrown together like this. Each had the

Vignettes: Forever Autumn 1

Copyright (C) 2010 by Kevin L. O'Brien Differel pounded her hand on the desk. "Dammit! I get so sick and tired of your calm, middle-of-the-road, diplomatic manner! Can you not for once in your life show a genuine raw emotion?!" "You want to see a raw emotion?" Victor said, raising his voice. He strode over to the desk, grabbed up her father's lighter, turned, and threw it at the portrait. It missed the painting and ricocheted off the frame. Stunned, Differel shouted, "What the bloody hell was that for?!" He turned to confront her, his face livid. "You tell me what your sick of, well, I'm sick of having to compete with a ghost. Dracula I c

Synopsis: Differel Team Girl Christmas Nativity

Copyright (C) 2012 by Kevin L. O'Brien Mabuse meets with Differel and Team Girl, and tells them about a new innovation she's made to her time travel technology. Using the Uncertainty Principle, she's now certain that she can connect with the times and places when and where certain events whose occurrence is unknown actually happened. She'd like to test it by sending Differel and the Girls back in time... ...to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. The catch is, since she can't know in advance when and where they will arrive, they must play everything by ear, but considering their considerable experience, in the Dreamlands, exploring alternative E
